CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Nov 23, 2021 (BSS) - A court here has sentenced one
person to life imprisonment for killing his younger brother in Shibganj
upazila of the district.
Additional district and session judge Md. Rabiul Islam delivered the
verdict yesterday in absence of the convict identifying Suffian Hoque.
The court also fined him Tk. 10,000, in default, he will have to suffer
six more months in prison.
According to the prosecution story in brief, the convicted Hoque, 40,
hailed from of Parkalupur village at Durlavpur union of Shibganj, was locked
in enmity with his younger brother Mominul Islam over the construction of a
toilet.
On July 20, 2013, they traded heat speeches, prompting hoque to attack
Islam on throat with a sharp machete, leaving him seriously injured.
Late, Islam died on the way to the hospital.
Islam's wife Seema Begum filed a murder case against Sufian next day with
Shibganj Thana.
Investigating officer sub-inspector Bani Israil submitted the charge sheet
against Hoque to the court on September 30, 2013.
After hearing the witnesses, the court pronounced the judgment yesterday.
