CHATTOGRAM, July 3, 2021 (BSS) – The total number of recovered patients from coronavirus rose to 49,746 with the healing of 132 more people in the last 24 hours.  

“The healed patients were discharged from different home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district as two consecutive real-time PCR tests were found negative,” said Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram.

The health official said, adding that the percentage of recovery rate stands at 82.92 in the district.

Meanwhile, a total of 262 more people were tested positive for Covid-19 after testing 1,048 samples in the last 24 hours at eight COVID-19 laboratories in the district till Friday evening, raising the number of infections to 59,999.

According to the hospital sources, the infection rate is 25 percent during the period.

The daily new infection figure shows a sharp decline compared to the previous day’s figure of 421, but the recovery rate also increased continusly in the district in recent weeks,” Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chatogram told BSS today.

Among the infected patients 197 are from Chattogram city and 65 from different upazilas of the district.

The health expert of Chattogram urged city dwellers again and again to strictly follow health rules and use masks due to continuous increasing corona infections here.   

With one death on Friday the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths in Chattogram reached 711, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, said.

Among the reported fatalities, 479 were the residents of the port city and the rest 232 were from different upazilas of the district, he said.

Among the total 59,999 coronavirus infected people, 46,744 are the residents of the port city and the rest 13,255 are the inhabitants of different upazilas of the district, he continued.  

A total of 6596 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, he mentioned.
