CHATTOGRAM, July 4, 2021 (BSS) - Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested a Jubo Dal leader for threatening and insulting a school teacher in the city’s Double Mooring Thana.
The arrested leader is Mia Mohammad Harun Khan, vice president of Chattogram city unit of Jubo Dal.
Mohammad Mohsin, Officer-in-Charge of Double Mooring Thana said that police arrested Mia Mohammad Harun Khan from his residence on Saturday night on charge of insulting and threatening Nizam Uddin, headmaster of Khan Saheb Abdul Hakim High School at Mansurabad area under the Thana.
A court of senior metropolitan magistrate sent him to jail on Sunday after police produced him before the court.
Ekram Mia, a managing committee member of the school and also elder brother of Harun sought permission to arrange for his daughter's wedding at the school. But the headmaster did not allow it during the lockdown time.
However, he arranged the marriage ceremony at the school on June 25 without permission.
Based on secret information, an executive magistrate of district administration stopped the marriage function.
Over the allegation, an investigation team led by Panchlaish-Doublemooring thana Education Officer Shafiul Alam came to the school to investigate the incident on June 30.
Later, the accused person along with his brothers entered the headmaster's room, started swearing in vulgar language. At one stage Harun slapped on the table and threatened to 'see him'. He also threatened to kill the president of the school managing committee.
A case was filed with Double Mooring Thana on Saturday night. Harun Khan was arrested from his residence after filling the case. At that time, the rest of the accused went into hiding, police said.
