KHULNA, Dec 16, 2021 (BSS) - People of Khulna celebrated the 51st Victory

Day today paying rich tributes to martyrs for their supreme sacrifice during
the Liberation War.

  Marking the day, different organisations, including government, semi-
government, political parties, autonomous bodies, educational institutions,
political parties and professional bodies observed different day.  

  The celebration of the day began heralding a 50-gun salute at the dawn at
the district police line.  

   Khulna divisional commissioner Ismail Hossain hoisted the national flag at
Khulna district stadium ground, and took a salute from a parade in observance
of the day.

   Reception to the freedom fighters was held at the conference room of the
deputy commissioner's office.  Khulna Shishu Academy organised an art
competition for children.   

People in all walks of life placed wreaths at the Gallamary monument here.   

 Special prayers were offered at mosques, temples, churches and other
religious institutions, seeking divine blessings for the peace and progress
of the country.   

  Improved diet has been served at all hospitals, orphanage centres and jails
observing the day.   State-run Khulna Betar is broadcasting special
programmes while the local newspapers published special supplements on the
occasion.
