CHATTOGRAM, Dec 25, 2021 (BSS)- Four workers suffered burn injuries in a
fire that broke out at Jamuna Ship-breaking yard at Shitalpur under Sitakunda
upazila of the district this morning.
The injured workers are Sohel Rana, 25, Zahid Hassan, 26, Mizanur Rahman,
39, and Md Firoz, 25.
Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sitakunda thana, confirmed the
incident to BSS. He said the accident took place around 8.30 am when the
workers were working for breaking an imported ship at the shipyard.
Being informed, three firefighting units of Kumira Fire Service and Civil
Defense rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control.
Alauddin Talukder, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Chattogram Medical
College Hospital (CMCH) police outpost, said four injured people were brought
to CMCH from Jamuna Shipyard.
Sohel Rana and Zahid Hasan, who burnt in the incident, have been admitted
to the burn unit of CMCH. Mizanur Rahman and Firoz have been admitted to ward
no 26 at the Orthopaedic unit of the hospital as their legs broke out. None
of them are serious, hospital sources said.
