Rangpur records 1.30pc Covid-19 positivity rate Friday

RANGPUR, Dec 31, 2021 (BSS) – Rangpur division recorded 1.30 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as two fresh cases were reported after testing 154 new samples at the two laboratories on Friday.   

Health officials said the overall Covid-19 pandemic situation continued to improve amid declining positivity and causality rates and rising recovery rate during the last four months in the division.

Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 6.58 percent on Thursday, 2.39 percent on Wednesday, 1.32 percent on Tuesday, 3.01 percent on Monday, 6.34 on Sunday and 6.06 percent on Saturday last in the division.     
 
All the two new patients were reported positive after testing 94 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) at the positivity rate of 2.13 percent today.

“The two new patients include one each from Rangpur and Gaibandha districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 6:40 pm.

On the other hand, non new patient was reported after diagnosing 60 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today, said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain.  

Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam said the total number of Covid-19 patients rose to 55,757 as two new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of total 55,757 patients include 12,563 of Rangpur, 3,835 Panchagarh, 4,463 of Nilphamari, 2,763 of Lalmonirhat, 4,649 of Kurigram, 7,702 of Thakurgaon, 14,903 of Dinajpur and 4,879 of Gaibandha in the division,” he said.
