RAJSHAHI, April 3, 2026 (BSS)- To ensure nationwide access to faster, reliable, and affordable internet—especially for marginal communities—a regional Point of Presence (PoP) of Internet Service Providers Association Bangladesh (ISPAB) NIX has been set up in the Rajshahi division.
This regional PoP has been established through joint support from the Bangladesh Internet Service Providers Internet Exchange Trust and the Internet Society.
ISPAB sources here said the installation of this NIX will enhance interconnectivity among internet service providers and ensure reliable internet services for people in remote areas.
In addition to ISP companies from the eight districts of Rajshahi division, NTTN, IIG, and both public and private institutions will benefit from this facility.
From now on, ISP companies can connect to this regional PoP and deliver high-speed, uninterrupted, secure, and low-cost internet services to their customers.
ISPA-BD NIX is serving as a central hub for improving internet services in Bangladesh while also helping to save foreign currency. Previously, ISPA-BD NIX PoPs were installed in Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna, and Mymensingh divisions.
As a result of this initiative, ISPs can exchange domestic internet bandwidth locally, reducing their dependence on expensive international bandwidth connections.
Additionally, there are plans to install cache services at this NIX PoP, which will enable the supply of larger volumes of bandwidth at lower costs to the general public.
This is expected to improve internet performance and stimulate innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth in sectors such as e-commerce, media, education, and healthcare.
Although regional ISP companies have already started providing services by connecting to the Rajshahi NIX PoP, its formal inauguration is expected to take place within the next month.
The ISPAB expressed optimism that this regional exchange point, set up in collaboration with the Internet Society and Trust, will revolutionize internet services across the eight districts of the Rajshahi division.
This boost in internet performance is expected to stimulate economic growth and foster new entrepreneurs in sectors such as e-commerce, freelancing, online education, and telemedicine.
