RANGPUR, Jan 7, 2022 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested an
alleged terrorist from Pirganj upazila here on Thursday night on charges of
creating terror in the area by threatening, attacking and torturing people.

  "Based on the information of several cases filed with Pirganj police
station, the Crime Prevention Specialized Company (CPSC) of RAB-13 conducted
a shadow investigation and arrested the terrorist from the area," a press
release said here this evening.

   The detainee is Md. Rakhiuzzman Rakhu, 26, of the same area. Rakhu is the
leader of a gang of local terrorists.

   During primary interrogation, the arrested terrorist admitted that he had
been torturing and terrorizing common people and conducting terrorist
activities in Pirganj area of Rangpur district for a long time.

  "Efforts are on to nab the other absconding cohorts of the arrested
terrorist," the release said, adding that the detainee was handed over to
Pirganj thana police today for taking necessary legal action.
