RANGPUR, Jan 18, 2022 (BSS) - A mobile court sentenced six drug addicts to different terms without labor and fined each of them taka 100 in Mithapukur upazila of the district today.

     Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Mithapukur upazila and Executive Magistrate Mahmud Hasan Mridha led the mobile court with assistance of the District Department of Narcotics Control at Ranipukur area in the upazila.

     The court caught the addicts red-handed while taking various kinds of drugs and seized narcotics substances from their possessions.

     Later, the mobile court sentenced five of the arrested persons to fifteen-day jail term each and another to three-day jail term and fined each of them taka 100 after hearing the charges brought against them.

     The convicts are: Limon Mian, 37, Abu Jafar, 40, Sheikh Farid, 30, Hafizur Rahman, 45, Mohsena Begum, 27, and Enamul Haque of Ranipukur area in Mithapukur upazila.

     Officials of the District Department of Narcotics Control and police personnel of Mithapukur police station extended assistance in conducting the mobile court.
