GAZIPUR, July 27, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested two people during a late-night raid in Milgate slum area of Tongi in Gazipur Metropolitan City, recovering a large cache of homemade weapons, counterfeit currency and drugs.
The operation was conducted by the Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) around 10.30 pm on Sunday. Police did not immediately disclose the identities of the suspects, although one of those arrested was identified as Alam, son of Kamal.
According to police, the raid was carried out in Milgate slum under Ward No- 55. During the search, officers seized a substantial quantity of counterfeit banknotes, homemade weapons, narcotics and equipment used for drug consumption.
GMP Additional Commissioner Mohammad Belayet Hossain confirmed the matter and said the raid was conducted under the directives of GMP Commissioner Md. Israil Howlader.
Legal action has been initiated against the arrested individuals, and a case has been filed. The suspects were produced before a court on Monday along with the seized evidence, he said.
