SIRAJGANJ, Aug 18, 2026 (BSS) - A pickup van driver and a milk trader were killed in a collision between a truck and a pickup van at Patdhari Bazar on the Dhaka-Pabna highway under Ullapara upazila of the district early this morning.

According to Hatikumerul Highway Police Sub-Inspector Kishore Kumar, a truck collided with a pickup van bound for Shahjadpur. Milk trader Saddam Hossain, who was travelling in the pickup, died on the spot.

The pickup driver, Rezwan Hossain, was critically injured in the crash. Local residents rescued him and took him to Sirajganj Medical College Hospital where he later died while undergoing treatment.

Rezwan, 35, is the resident of Goalbatan village in Singra upazila of Natore, while Saddam, 30, was from Helensa Para in Bogura Sadar.

SI Kishore Kumar said the bodies were handed over to the families. Police also seized the truck involved in the accident, but its driver fled the scene.

A case has been filed under the Road Transport Act, and further legal proceedings are underway.
