Destitute family gets new house in Manikganj

MANIKGANJ, Aug 18, 2026 (BSS) - A destitute family that has been living a miserable life in a broken house gets a new house with the assistance of the Manikganj District Administration.

Sakina, wife of the late Makhon Mia of the village Ukiara under Jagir Union of Manikganj Sadar upazila in the district, had been living in a broken house for a long time with her three children, who were leading a measurable live. After publishing the news on social media, it was brought to the knowledge of the Manikganj District Administration.

The Deputy Commissioner, Nazmun Ara Sultana, directed the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Manikganj Sadar Upazila, Mousumi Nasrin, to visit the house of the destitute widow Sakina.

After the direction of the Deputy Commissioner, the UNO visited the widow's house and took the initiative to rebuild the house. The UNO supplied new tin to rebuild the house immediately and gave her a ceiling fan and some cash.

The UNO said she came to the widow's house according to the direction of the Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam Rita and the Deputy Commissioner of Manikganj. She also assured the widow that steps would be taken to build a new house for her and she would be provided with government allowances.

Project Implementation Officer (PIO) Ali Noor, Manikganj Sadar Upazila Social Service Officer Rushia Akter, a local Union Parishad member, and local elites were present at the UNO visit.
