BOGURA, Aug 19, 2026 (BSS) - An ice cream factory has been fined Taka 100,000
for allegedly using the banned chemical and harmful colours in the production
of ice cream in Sherpur upazila of the district today.
A large quantity of ice cream made with the prohibited chemicals was also
seized from the factory and destroyed publicly in accordance with
regulations.
The action was taken during a joint raid conducted by the district
administration and the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority from 12.00pm to
1.30pm at Prince Super Ice Cream factory in Bagura Colony area of Kusumbi
Union in Sherpur upazila.
Executive Magistrate Mehrab Hossain led the operation.
The factory owner, Md Shihab Uddin, was fined Taka 100,000 for violating
Section 39 of the Food Safety Act, 2013. He admitted to the offence, and the
fine was realised immediately.
The officials also found that ice cream cups were being produced in
unhygienic conditions. Although the factory was producing ice cream marketed
as children's food, it was not registered, he said.
Food Safety Officer Md Russel, Sherpur's acting Food Safety Inspector Tahmina
Akter and other support staff took part in the operation.
