DHAKA, Aug 22, 2026 (BSS) – Four people were killed in separate road mishaps in three districts of the country today.
In Natore, two people were killed in a road accident in Barohorshipur bypass area of the district town here this afternoon.
The deceased were Sabbir Hossain, 23, son of Jamshed Ali of Joynagar Purba Para in Natore Sadar upazila and Abu Sayeed, 45, son of Hasan Ali of Rajbipur village under Barohorshipur union of the upazila.
Police said the accident occurred around 1.30pm when a bus of Shishir Paribahan, travelling from Rajshahi to Dhaka, hit a battery-run auto van from behind, leaving its driver and passenger dead on the spot.
Sheikh Md Zakir Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Jhalmalia Highway Police Station, confirmed the matter and said the bodies were recovered and sent to the morgue of Natore General Hospital.
Legal proceedings in connection with the incident are underway, he said.
In Kishoreganj, a man was killed in a road accident in Bahadia area under Pakundia upazila of the district this morning.
The deceased was identified as Nuruzzaman, 60, son of Abdul Quddus of Bahadia Akand Bari of the upazila.
Police said the accident took place on the Dhaka-Kishoreganj highway when a private car hit Nuruzzaman while he was crossing the road.
He fell on the road and sustained severe head injuries. Local people rescued him and took him to a hospital, but he died on way to the hospital.
Officer-in-Charge of Pakundia Police Station S M Arifur Rahman confirmed the matter.
In Bogura, a man was killed after being run over by a speeding truck while crossing a highway in Shibganj upazila of the district this morning.
The accident occurred around 9.30am near Mokamtala Bus Stand on the Rangpur-Bogura highway.
The deceased was identified as Rafiqul Islam, a BGB member serving at the Patnitala BGB camp in Naogaon and son of Kapil Uddin Sarker, a resident of Panthapara Fokirer Hat area under Rajarhat upazila in Kurigram.
Raius Uddin, Officer-in-Charge of Kundarhat Highway Police Station, confirmed the incident to BSS.
He said Rafiqul was crossing the highway in front of Mokamtala Union Parishad when a speeding truck hit him, leaving him dead on the spot.
Police recovered the body. Efforts are underway to identify the truck and arrest its driver, the OC said, adding that legal proceedings are in progress.
