CHATTOGRAM, Aug 27, 2026 (BSS) – The Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) today 
fined Utsob Supershop Tk 8 lakh for violating the approved construction design and failing to ensure adequate parking facilities at its outlet on Halishahar Access Road in the city.

CDA Special Magistrate Hamimun Tanjin imposed the fine during a mobile court operation at the  Utsob Super Market outlet this morning. The operation was led by CDA Chairman Engineer  Belayet Hossain.

According to CDA officials, the inspection found that the commercial building did not have the required parking facilities specified in the approved design. The building authorities claimed that street space would be used for parking, but the CDA did not accept the arrangement as a valid solution.

The authorities also failed to produce the approved construction design during the inspection. 

Subsequent checks of different sections of the building found several deviations from the 
approved design.

Following the violations, the CDA mobile court fined the building authority Tk 8 lakh, with a provision of two years’ imprisonment in case of non-payment.

The authority was given until November 27 to rectify the deviations and ensure adequate parking facilities in accordance with the approved design.

An undertaking was also obtained from the building authority in this regard.

CDA Authorized Officer-2 Tanjib Hossain said the building authority had been instructed to remove the deviations and ensure sufficient parking facilities as stipulated in the approved design.

“If the directives are not complied with within the stipulated timeframe, further action will be taken in accordance with the law,” he said.

During the operation, the CDA also took action against another construction site in the area. 
A  portion of its boundary wall was demolished for failing to maintain the designated space for the roadway.

The owner was fined Tk 5 lakh, with an order of two months’ rigorous imprisonment in 
case of non-payment. 

Meanwhile, the CDA inspected a local restaurant to verify whether it had the necessary 
approvals to operate and whether its activities conformed to the approved building design and usage.

As no owner or responsible representative was present despite waiting for an extended period,  the CDA could not verify the required documents. The mobile court subsequently sealed the restaurant, which remains locked.
