GAIBANDHA, Aug 27, 2026 (BSS) - A 27-year-old man named Zahid Mia died after being electrocuted while cutting a tree branch in Sadullapur upazila of the district. 

The accident occurred this afternoon in Uttar Manduar village of Bonogram Union under the upazila. 

Zahid Mia was the son of Hafizar Rahman of Uttar Manduar village.

Locals said Zahid climbed a mahogany tree beside his house around noon to collect leaves for his goat to eat. 

After he cut a branch, it fell onto an overhead electrical wire. When the entire tree came into contact with electricity, Zahid was electrocuted and fell from the tree, sustaining injuries.

He was quickly rescued and taken to hospital, but he died on the way.

Sadullapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) A.K.M. Habibul Islam also confirmed the incident.
