DINAJPUR, Sep 11, 2026 (BSS) - The district administration has recovered 1,577 bags of chemical fertilizer after conducting raids at three godowns in Khansama upazila of Dinajpur on allegations of illegally stockpiling fertilizer.

The executive magistrate of the mobile court today fined the owners of the three godowns a total of Taka 140,000. The godowns were also sealed.

Three separate raids were conducted at Tongua Bazar and Pakerhat in Khansama upazila at 4:30 pm today and Thursday night under the leadership of executive magistrates of the mobile court.

Khansama Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Kamruzzaman confirmed the information to BSS today.

The mobile court said a raid was conducted at 4 pm today at M/S Asaduzzaman Traders, a BCIC-approved fertilizer dealership at Tongua Bazar in Khansama, following allegations of unauthorized fertilizer stockpiling. During the raid, 207 bags of chemical fertilizer were seized from the godown.

Sources said fertilizer dealer Asaduzzaman has been staying in Dhaka for a long time. In his absence, a person named Nazrul Islam had been operating the dealership on his behalf. He was fined Taka 50,000 by the mobile court for illegally stockpiling fertilizer.

Meanwhile, the mobile court conducted a raid at the godown of M/S Mahadev Traders at Pakerhat in the upazila at 2:30 pm today. The owner of the establishment is Mahitosh Chandra Chanda, a BADC-registered fertilizer dealer. The raid was conducted over allegations of stockpiling fertilizer beyond the prescribed limit.

A total of 450 bags of fertilizer were recovered from the godown. Later, the mobile court fined Mahitosh Chandra Chanda Taka 40,000. The godown was also sealed.

The raid was conducted under the leadership of Dinajpur District Administration Executive Magistrate Adnan Kabir Uday and Khansama Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Kamruzzaman Sarkar. Upazila Agriculture Officer Yasmin Akter, police and concerned officials of the agriculture department were present.

On the other hand, a raid was conducted at the godown of the dealer named M/S Roni Traders at Pakerhat in Khansama upazila from 8 pm to 10:30 pm Thursday, and 920 bags of fertilizer were seized.

During the raid, a total of 920 bags of fertilizer were found in the godown after counting. 

Khansama Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kamruzzaman Sarkar said the fertilizer seized during the raids would be sold to local farmers at government-fixed prices tomorrow. 
 

On the other hand, a raid was conducted at the godown of the dealer named M/S Roni Traders at

Pakerhat in Khansama upazila from 8 pm to 10:30 pm Thursday, and 920 bags of fertilizer were

seized.

During the raid, a total of 920 bags of fertilizer were found in the godown after counting.

Khansama Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kamruzzaman Sarkar said the fertilizer seized during the raids

would be sold to local farmers at government-fixed prices tomorrow.
