RANGPUR, Feb 5, 2022 (BSS) - Rangpur division recorded 33.96 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 126 fresh cases were diagnosed after testing 371 samples at two laboratories in the division on Saturday.
Health officials said a community spread of the Covid-19 virus still continues in the division where the daily positivity rate and number of positive cases are showing a little declining trend in recent days.
Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 26.10 percent on Friday, 38.80 percent on Thursday, 38.98 percent on Wednesday, 46.01 percent on Tuesday, 41.87 percent on Monday and 41.82 percent on Sunday last in the division.
Among the 126 new patients, 55 were reported positive after testing 183 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) at the 30.05 percent positivity rate today.
"The 55 new patients include 38 from Rangpur, nine from Gaibandha, five from Lalmonirhat, two from Nilphamari and one from Thakurgaon districts," said Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. Bimal Chandra Roy.
On the other hand, 71 new patients were reported positive after testing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the 37.77 percent positivity rate today.
"The 71 new patients include 55 from Dinajpur, eight from Panchagarh, seven from Nilphamari and one from Thakurgaon districts," said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain.
Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Abu Md. Zakirul Islam told BSS that the total number of Covid-19 patients reached 61,295 as 126 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.
The district-wise break up of total 61,295 patients currently stands at 14,128 in Rangpur, 4,188 in Panchagarh, 5,113 in Nilphamari, 3,065 in Lalmonirhat, 4,856 in Kurigram, 8,368 in Thakurgaon, 16,288 in Dinajpur and 5,288 in Gaibandha in the division.
