RANGPUR, Feb 13, 2022 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 today arrested prime accused in the sensational murder case of farmer Md. Mafizul Haque from Sundarganj upazila in Gaibandha district today.

  The arrested person is Md. Mokbul Hossain, 38, of village Uttar Bekatari under Sundarganj upazila in Gaibandha district," a press release issued by Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-13 Flight Lieutenant Mahmud Bashir Ahmed said.

  Earlier, a group of people led by Mokbul Hossain attacked victim Mafizul Haque while he was ploughing cropland in the village at 1:10 pm February 6 last.

  "At one stage, Mokbul Hossain hit at the head of Mafizul Haque with a spade injuring him critically," the release said.

  Local people rushed there, rescued Mafizul Haque and took him to a nearby courtyard of one Shamsul Haque where he succumbed to his injuries.

  A murder case was filed in this connection with Sundarganj police station in Gaibandha on the same day.

  Alongside police, the elite force conducted a shadow investigation into the sensational murder case of farmer Mafizul Haque and arrested the absconding prime accused from Sundarganj upazila today.

  During primary interrogation, the arrested person admitted his involvement in murdering farmer Mafizul Haque and elaborately narrated whole episode of the sensational murder.

  "The arrested person was handed over to Sundarganj police station for further legal proceedings against him," the release said.
