Six heroic women freedom fighters of Rangpur honored

RANGPUR, Feb 16, 2022 (BSS) - Six heroic women freedom fighters (FFs) of
Rangpur were honoured on Tuesday for their outstanding contribution to the
country's Liberation War marking the golden jubilee of independence of
Bangladesh.

  The Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Ministry organised a national
level function to honor the women freedom fighters at Osmani Memorial
Auditorium in the capital and all Deputy Commissioners' offices across the
country virtually participated in the event.

  Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque MP attended the function
as the chief guest with State Minister for Women and Children Affairs
Fazilatun Nesa Indira MP in the chair.

   The Liberation War Affairs Minister also virtually distributed crests,
scarves, sharee and souvenir among the six heroic women freedom fighters of
Rangpur through Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur Md. Asib Ahsan.

  The honored heroic women freedom fighters of Rangpur are Aklima Khikndker
of Purbo Shalbon area, Jahanara Begum and Mahmuda Yasmin of Munshipara area,
Monsura Begum of Kamal kachhan area, Anwara Begum of Radhaballav area and
Ayesha Begum of Tazhat area in Rangpur city and Ruplai Rani Singha of Dakshin
Ajoddhapur area under sadar upazila in Rangpur.

  After receiving the awards, the heroic women freedom fighters expressed
deep gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for properly evaluating and
honoring them while celebrating the golden jubilee of the country's
independence.

  Deputy Director of the Department of Women's Affairs Kawser Parveen, high
officials, heroic freedom fighters, socio-cultural and professional activists
attended the function held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner
in Rangpur.
