Youth gets 7-yr jail for ATM booth forgery in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Feb 18, 2022 (BSS) - A trial tribunal here Thursday convicted a youth and sentenced him to seven years behind the bar on charges of his involvement in ATM booth forgery in Rajshahi city around six and a half years back.

The court also fined the convict, Hasibur Rahman, 28, Taka one lakh, in default, one-year more in jail.

Rajshahi Divisional Cyber Tribunal Judge Ziaur Rahman found the accused guilty and handed down the verdict in presence of the convict at the courtroom.

Public Prosecutor of the tribunal Ismat Ara told journalists that a case had been lodged with Boalia Police Station against Hasibur Rahman related to his involvement in the forgery on January 26, 2016.

Referring to the prosecution story, Ismat Ara said the youth had lifted Taka 3,000 from Dutch Bangla Bank ATM booth from the mobile banking account of Abdus Sabur on September 15, 2015.

Upon completion of investigation, police pressed a charge sheet against him.

After examining the recorded depositions of five prosecution witnesses and other relevant evidence, the tribunal pronounced the verdict.
