CHAPAINAWABGANJ, July 11, 2021 (BSS) - One more person died of Covid-19 and 20 were infected with the lethal virus during the last 24 hours till this morning in the district, sources said.

With the new fatality reported from Shibganj upazila, the total number of deaths reached 122 so far in the district.

The total death included 82 of Chapainawabganj sadar upazila, 26 of Shibganj upazila, eight of Gomostapur upazila, four of Nachole upazila and two of Bholahat upazila.

On the other hand, the number of Covid-19 cases climbed to 4,470 as 20 more people were detected positive after testing 241 samples during the last 24 hours in the district while the infection rate is 8.29 percent, Civil Surgeon Office sources confirmed.

Among the newly detected patients, four people are from Sadar upazila, six from Shibganj upazila, nine from Gomostapur upazila and one from Nachole upazila.

Of the total detected patients, 2,479 are from Sadar upazila, 774 from Shibganj upazila, 584 from Gomostapur upazila, 354 from Nachole upazila and 279 from Bholahat upazila.

At present, there are 641 COVID-affected patients in the district and of them, 71 are undergoing treatment in dedicated Covid hospital and others at home.

Meanwhile, 3,707 patients have healed with 52 new recoveries found from the disease here, the sources added.

While contacted, civil surgeon Dr. Jahid Nazrul Chowdhury said the overall COVID-19 situation has started improving in the district for the ongoing lockdown and the enhancement of the people's consciousness.

If people continue obeying health guidelines, the situation would improve further, he expressed optimism.
