KHULNA, Feb 19, 2022 (BSS) - All government administrations, Socio-
Cultural, Political and Professional bodies and Educational Institutions have
completed all preparations to observe the "Amar Ekushey and International
Mother Language Day-2022" on February 21 (Monday) in Khulna abiding health
guidelines due to the coronavirus pandemic.
As per the government directives, at least five people from different
organisations will be allowed to go to the Shaheed Minar premises in memory
of Language Heroes and at least two persons could place floral wreaths on it,
said Md Moniruzzaman Talukder, additional deputy commissioner of Khulna.
According to officials, the district and upazila administrations and other
organisations have chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the day in a
befitting manner.
Earlier, the decision was taken at a preparatory meeting held at the
Deputy Commissioner's (DC) office with DC Md Helal Hossain in the chair.
In Khulna city, the observance will begin at one minute past after
midnight on February 21 when State Minister of Labour and Employment Begum
Monnuzan Sufian will place wreaths at Shaheed Minar of City's Shaheed Hadis
Park to pay due respect to the Language Movement Martyrs.
Later, Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque,
Muktijoddha Sangsad, Khulna Divisional Commissioner, Khulna Metropolitan
Police Commissioner (KMP), Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Khulna Range
Police will place wreaths there.
Helal Hossain along with officials of the district and upazila
administration will also place floral wreaths there to be followed by the
other government and non-government departments and organisations abiding the
health directives.
Bangladesh Awami League (AL) and its front organisations and other
political parties, Social, Cultural and professional organisations and common
people will also pay homage to the Language Movement Martyrs by placing
wreaths at the Shaheed Minar.
Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), Khulna University
(KU), Khulna City Corporation (KCC), Khulna Press Club and Khulna Union of
Journalists (KUJ) will also place wreaths at the Shaheed Minar.
The other programmes include hoisting of national flag at half-mast atop
of all buildings, educational institutions, decoration of the streets with
miniature national and coloured flags inscribed with Bengali alphabets.
Besides, competitions for the children on drawing, essay writing,
rendering patriotic songs and sports competitions for the school students
will be arranged virtually.
