RANGPUR, Feb 24, 2022 (BSS) - Rangpur division recorded 9.77 percent Covid-
19 positivity rate as 17 fresh cases were diagnosed after testing 174 samples
at two laboratories today.
Health officials said the Covid-19 pandemic situation is improving fast as
the number of positive cases is decreasing daily amid declining positivity
rate in the last more than one week.
Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 8.50 percent on
Wednesday, 10.32 percent on Tuesday, 7.22 percent on Monday, 12.30 percent on
Sunday, 14.57 percent on Saturday and 10.82 percent on Friday last in the
division. Among the 17 new patients, eight were reported positive after
testing 92 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College
(RpMC) at the 83.70 percent positivity rate today.
"The eight new patients include three from Rangpur, two each from Gaibandha
and Lalmonmirhat and one from Nilphamari districts," said Principal of RpMC
Professor Dr. Bimal Chandra Roy.
On the other hand, nine new patients were reported positive after testing 82
samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC)
in Dinajpur at the 10.98 percent positivity rate today.
"The nine new patients include six from Dinajpur, two from Panchagarh and one
from Nilphamari districts," said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir
Hossain.
Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Abu Md. Zakirul Islam said told the
national news agency that the total number of Covid-19 patients reached
63,985 as 17 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.
The district-wise break up of total 63,985 patients include 14,913 in
Rangpur, 4,407 in Panchagarh, 5,468 in Nilphamari, 3,273 in Lalmonirhat,
4,970 in Kurigram, 8,568 in Thakurgaon, 16,896 in Dinajpur and 5,490 in
Gaibandha in the division.
