RANGPUR, Mar 7, 2022 (BSS) - The total number of recovered Covid-19 patients
reached 62,021 with the healing of 129 more infected people during the last
24 hours ending at 8 am today in Rangpur division.
Health officials said the number of healed patients continues increasing
as the number of positive cases and positivity rate are declining in the
division almost during the last three weeks.
"The average recovery rate of Covid-19 patients currently stands at 96.77
percent in the division," Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Abu Md. Zakirul
Islam told BSS today.
The 62,021 recovered patients include 14,452 of Rangpur, 4,325 of
Panchagarh, 5,177 of Nilphamari, 3,194 of Lalmonirhat, 4,680 of Kurigram,
8,295 of Thakurgaon, 16,464 of Dinajpur and 5,434 of Gaibandha districts in
the division.
Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases reached 64,093 as six new patients
were diagnosed after testing 221 new samples at the 2.71 percent positivity
rate on Sunday in the division.
Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 3.27 percent on
Saturday, 0.65 percent on Friday, 2.06 percent on Thursday, 3.31 percent on
Wednesday, 4.76 percent on Tuesday and 4.93 percent on Monday last in the
division.
The district-wise break up of total 64,093 patients include 14,952 of
Rangpur, 4,415 Panchagarh, 5,475 of Nilphamari, 3,278 of Lalmonirhat, 4,980
of Kurigram, 8,578 of Thakurgaon, 16,909 of Dinajpur and 5,506 of Gaibandha
in the division.
Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, a total of 3,38,855
collected samples were tested till Sunday, and of them, 64,093 were found
positive with an average positivity rate of 18.91 percent in the division.
On the other hand, the total number of casualties remained steady at 1,283
in the division as no new death was reported during the last 24 hours ending
at 8 am today.
The district-wise break up of the 1,283 fatalities stands at 300 Rangpur,
84 in Panchagarh, 92 in Nilphamari, 74in Lalmonirhat, 69 in Kurigram, 259 in
Thakurgaon, 340 in Dinajpur and 65 in Gaibandha districts of the division.
The average casualty rate currently stands at two percent in the division.
Among total 64,093 Covid-19 patients, 29 are undergoing treatments at
isolation units, including five patients at ICU and six at High Dependency
Unit beds, after recovery of 62,021 patients and 1,283 deaths while 760 are
remaining in home isolation.
"Meanwhile, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-19
vaccine rose to 1,32,49,341 and among them, 86,73,822 got the second dose and
4,29,522 got the booster dose of the jabs till Sunday in the division," Dr
Islam said.
Expressing satisfaction over the current improving trend in the Covid-19
pandemic situation, Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. Bimal
Chandra Roy urged everyone to abide by the health directives.
