JOYPURHAT, March 8, 2022 (BSS) - International Women's Day-2022 was
observed today in the district with a call for building a sustainable world
giving priority to gender equality.
'Teksai Agameer Jonnya, Gender Samotai Aj Agraganna' was the theme for
International Women's Day 2022.
Marking the day, the district administration and department of the
district women affairs jointly organised a discussion meeting at Sadar
upazila parishad auditorium in the city this morning.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Shariful Islam addressed the meeting as the chief
guest with Sabina Sultana, Deputy Director of Department of Women's Affairs
in the chair.
Superintendent of Police Mashum Ahmed Bhuiyan, Chairman of District
Council and President of District Awami League (AL) Md. Arifur Rahman Rocket,
Chairman of Sadar Upazila Parishad SM Selaiman Ali, Additional District
Magistrate Ummul Banin Duti, General Secretary of District Awami League Md.
Zakir Hossain, President of District Mohila Awami League Shammim Aziz Saj and
General Secretary Sabina Chowdhury, among others, spoke on the occasion.
The discussants unanimously termed the day's theme as time befitting in the
current perspective and wished success of all programmes of the day.
DC Md. Shariful Islam said the present government under the dynamic and
visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working
relentlessly for the development and empowerment of women.
The DC also said the government has also attained success in the field of
establishing equal rights for women side by side with generating employment
opportunities for them.
