JOYPURHAT, March 10, 2022 (BSS) - The National Disaster Preparedness Day-2022 was observed in the district elsewhere across the country through holding different awareness programme today.

 The National Disaster Preparedness Day has been observed on the initiative of the district administration with the theme 'The success of Mujib Barsha, swiftness in disaster preparedness'.

On the occasion of the day, a colorful rally started this morning from the front of the Deputy Commissioner's Office, went around the city and ended at the Upazila Parishad premises.

Marking the day, fire service and civil defense personnel then performed a fascinating exercise on what to do during an earthquake, held at government girls' high school in the city.

A discussion meeting was also held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner's office. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Shariful Islam addressed the function as the chief guest this morning with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Anwar Parvez in the chair.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Md. Mohi Uddin Jahangir, Chairman of Sadar Upazila Parishad SM Solaiman Ali, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Arafat Hossain, Deputy Assistant Director of Fire Service and Civil Defense, District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Abdul Karim, Teachers and students from different schools, NGO workers, among others, were present on the occasion.
