Echo tourism management to protect biodiversity of Sundarban -KU VC

KHULNA, Apr 6, 2022 (BSS) -Vice Chancellor of Khulna University (KU) Prof Dr Mahmud Hossain today stressed the need of echo tourism management to protect biodiversity of Sundarban, the largest mangrove forest in the world.

The VC said this while speaking after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between KU and Bangladesh Echo Tourism and Conservation Alliance (BECA), an international research organization, at KU VC’s office here. 

In order to strengthen Echo tourism and address different issues for varieties researches in Sundarban, the BECA sign the MoU with the help of USAID.

KU VC Prof Dr Mahmud Hossain and Cris Shick, Chief of Party of BECA, signed the MoU in favour of their respective organizations. 

The VC in his speech said that huge opportunity of researches will create in the academic field after signing the MoU between KU and BECA.
To enhance capability of tourism with Sundarban and others reserve tourism spots, to protect biodiversity of forest and management development of natural resources and to develop livelihood of people who are dependent on Sundarban.

Acting Registrar of KU Prof Khan Golam Quddus, Head of Forestry and Wood Technology Discipline Prof Dr Md Iftekhar Shams, Vice-President of USA Miles Partnership Cris Adams and Director of Conservation and Community Development of Salimer International Cloey King, among others, were present during the signing of the MoU.
