Jashore, April 9, 2022 (BSS) - The department of agricultural extension (DAE) will distribute seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agricultural incentives among 13,500 small and marginal farmers in eight upazilas of the district.
Seeds and fertilizers worth taka 1 crore 5 lakh 46 thousand 800 will be distributed under the agricultural incentive and rehabilitation programme in the current season with a view to increasing Aus paddy production, sources said.
Deputy Director (Acting) of DAE Dipankar Das said BIRI-48 variety of Aus is the most cultivated Paddy in the district.
The present government is farmer-friendly as it has taken various steps for development of agriculture, he added.
The farmers who will get agri-incentives includes 1,820 in Sadar, 1,900 in Sharsha, 1,780 in Jhikargacha, 1,700 in Chowgacha, 1,200 in Abhaynagar, 1,300 in Bagherpara, 2,600 in Monirampur and 1,200 in Keshabpur upazilas, DAE sources said.
Sadar upazila agriculture officer Sheikh Sajjad Hossain said each farmer will be given 5 kgs of seeds, 10 kgs of MOP and 20 kgs of DAP fertilizer for cultivating paddy on one bigha of land.
