RANGPUR, April 10, 2022 (BSS) - Four persons including a father and his son were killed in separate road accidents in Rangpur, Panchagarh and Kurigram districts today.
Police sources said a van-cart puller was killed after a sand-laden truck hit him at Echhlar Bazar point on the Rangpur-Sundarganj regional highway under Pirgachha upazila of Rangpur this afternoon.
"The deceased was identified as Bhutto Mian, 40, of village Hatibandha in Sundarganj upazila of Gaibandha district," Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pirgachha police station Saresh Chandra told BSS tonight.
Police seized the killer truck although its driver and helper managed to escape from the scene soon after the accident.
In Panchagarh, a father and his son were killed when a sand-laden truck hit their running motorcycle from the opposite direction at Natun Bandar point on the Panchagarh-Kohururhat road under Sadar upazila this afternoon.
"The deceased were identified as Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) member Arif Hossain, 24, and his father retired BGB member Abdul Aziz, 55, of village Barobari under Sadar upazila," OC of Panchagarh Sadar police station Abdul Latif Mian said.
The driver and helper of the killer truck managed to flee from the scene. Police seized the killer truck.
In another accident, a female singer was killed and her companion guitarist seriously injured when a tank lorry hit their running motorcycle at the Central Bus Terminal point in Kurigram district town this afternoon.
"The deceased singer was identified as Ashrafun Nahar Mim, 19, wife of Shameem Fuad Hassan of village Akundopara under Chilmari upazila in Kurigram district," said OC of Kurigram Sadar police station Md. Shahriar.
Seriously injured guitarist Bipul, 30, was sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital in critical conditions.
Police seized the tank lorry in abandoned condition from the Trimohani area in the outskirts of Kurigram district town.
Separate cases were filed in these connections.
