NATORE, April 12, 2022 (BSS) - Speakers at a discussion underscored the need

for using surface water instead of ground water for the betterment of human
beings in the days to come and balancing ecology of the environment.

They said people should consume surface water as it is easy to abstract by
direct pumping, the water can be treated after use and put back into a river
and dams and reservoirs can be used for hydroelectric power as well as
reservoirs can be used for recreation.

They came up with the suggestions while addressing a discussion on rights to
water held at Victoria Public Library auditorium in the district town today.

Ratna Ahmed, MP, took part in the water right discussion as the chief guest.

With Principal Abdur Razzak in the chair, the discussion was addressed, among
others, by Deputy Assistant Engineer of Bangladesh Water Development Board
Khalid Bin Walid, Coordinator of Bishwo Shahitto Kendro Subid Kumar Moitra,
activist Mominul Haque, Ranen Rao from Shacheton Nagorik Committee and
advocate Khagendranath Rao.
