CHAPAINAWABGANJ, April 14, 2022 (BSS) - Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bengali New Year 1429, was celebrated here today in a befitting manner as elsewhere in the country.

A colourful 'Mongol Shobhayatra' led by deputy commissioner AKM Galiv Khan was brought out at 9 am from his office premises with the participation of different government and non-government offices and organisations, educational institutions, indigenous communities and people from different walks.

A discussion meeting, snake dance, monkey dance, different rural functions and a grand cultural function were also held at Bangabandhu Manch in front of the DC office.

Prizes were distributed among the winners of different competitions arranged earlier on the occasion.

A Baishakhi Fair has also been arranged there.
