Panchagarh growers expecting bumper output of Boro this year

PANCHAGARH, April, 26, 2022 (BSS)-The farmers of Panchagar district are expecting bumper production of Boro due to favourable climatic condition throughout the season, official sources said here today.

The agro-inputs such as chemical fertilizer, pesticide and so on were available and the prices of which were affordable to the farmers, they said adding that the farmers are now engaged in weeding, sprinkling urea fertilizer and nursing the cropland.

The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said, 30 percent of the deep-tube wells and shallow tube-wells are engaged in irrigation run by diesel and the rest are operated by electricity.

 The availability of diesel is easy and the prices were normal, according to the farmers. DAE sources said this year target of Boro cultivation in the district was in 30,500 hectares of land and production target is 3,36,000 tones .

Bipul Chandra, a farmer of Sahapara village under Debiganj Upazila said he cultivated Boro in one acre of land where the plants are growing excellently so he is expecting a total production of more than 70 maunds of paddy.
