RANGPUR, May 1, 2022 (BSS) - The main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation will be held at Rangpur Collectorate Eidgah at 8:30 am on the Eid day in the city amid due religious fervor after two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Officials in the district administration and Islamic foundation said public representatives, high officials, political leaders, academics, sociocultural activists, civil society members and professionals will participate in the main congregation.
But, if the weather remains unfavourable, the main Eid-ul-Fitr jamat will be held at the District Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Center at 9 am.
Rangpur City Corporation with the district administration, Islamic Foundation and Rangpur Metropolitan Police has completed preparations to arrange the main Eid jamat amid tight security measures.
Apart from this, other congregations will be arranged at Eidgahs, mosques and open grounds in the city, all eight upazila headquarters and three municipalities and rural areas across the district.
Divisional Commissioner Md. Abdul Wahhab Bhuiyan, Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa, Deputy Inspector General of Rangpur Range Police Devdas Bhattacharya, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud, Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan, Police Super Md. Ferdous Ali Chowdhury and President of district Awami League Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed and its general Secretary Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju have greeted people of Rangpur city on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The national flag will be hoisted atop all government and private buildings while improved diets will be served to inmates of the hospitals, orphanages, jail, vagrant centres and Shishu Paribars.
Rangpur City Corporation has decorated the main streets with the national and colourful flags and banners inscribed 'Eid Mubarak' giving a charming look to the city.
Besides, the main streets and major buildings will be illuminated and colorfully decorated on the occasion.
In Rangpur city, major Eid-ul-Fitr congregations will be held at Rangpur Court Jam-e-Mosque, Munshipara Eidgah, Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque, Nasirabad Ekramia Jam-e-Mosque, Rangpur Medical College Central Jam-e-Mosque, Burirhat Central Eidgah, Central Bus Terminal Jam-e Mosque and other Eidgahs and mosques between 8:30 am and 9 am.
Outside the city, bigger Eid jamats will be held at Mithapukur Central Eidgah, Badarganj Chandamari Central Eidgah, Pirgachha JN High School ground, Kawnia Central Eidgah, Taraganj Chowpathi Eidgah, Pirganj Central Eidgah and Badarganj Central Eidgah and Paikan Baro Jumma ground between 9 am and 10 am.
The biggest Eid-ul-Fitr congregation will be held at Taluk Habu Bhuban Shahi Eidgah Maidan in Gangachara upazila where around one-lakh musollis are expected to take part in the Eid prayers.
Thousands of Muslim devotees will offer special munajats in the congregations seeking divine blessings for continued peace, progress and prosperity of the country, its people, Muslim Ummah and the humanity as a whole.
