NAOGAON, June 1, 2022 (BSS) - The World Milk Day-2022 was observed in the district today in a befitting manner as elsewhere in the world.
In 2001, World Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of United Nations announced June 1 as World Milk Day.
Marking the day, district Animal Resources Department arranged a discussion on “Sustainability in the dairy Sector as well as Environmental, Nutritional and Socio-economic Empowerment”.
Deputy Commissioner Khalid Mehedi Hasan took part in the function as the chief guest held at the conference room of Deputy Commissioner (DC) office this morning with District Animal Resources Officer Md. Mohir Uddin in the chair.
Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Gaziur Rahman, Retired Principal Prof. Md. Shariful Islam Khan, President of Naogaon District Press Club Md. Kayes Uddin, Sadar Upazila Animal Resources Officer Dr. Md. Aminul Islam and President of District Dairy Farm Association AQM Wazedul Islam Khan, among others, spoke it.
It was informed at the conference that Naogaon district is known as a surplus district in milk production. At present, more than four lakh liters of milk is produced in the district. The total demand of the district is 2.66 lakh liters of milk and 1.43 lakh liters of surplus milk in the district.
District and upazila level government officials, teachers, journalists and dairy farmers participated in the discussion.
Later, a colorful rally was brought out from the deputy commissioner’s office premises.
