CHAPAINAWABGANJ, June 9, 2022 (BSS)- Three persons including two women were

killed in a lightning strike in Shibganj upazila of the district this
morning.

The deceased were identified as Merina Begum, 40, wife of Khairul Islam of
Akhira village under Chakkirti union of Shibganj upazila, Khairul Islam, 48,
son of late Jainal Islam of the same area and Semiara Begum, 40, wife of
Erfan Ali of Satrashia village under Binodpur union of Shibganj upazila.

Locals said a thunderbolt struck them while they were picking mangoes around
6 am, leaving the trio dead on the spot.
 
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Shibganj Md. Abul Hayat confirmed the matter
to BSS adding that the upazila administration has given Taka 20,000 to each
family of the victims.
