Eid-ul-Azha being celebrated in Rangpur

RANGPUR, July 10, 2022 (BSS) - Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festival of the Muslims, is being celebrated with due religious solemnity and sacrificing animals abiding by the health directives amid the Covid-19 pandemic here today.
 
The district administration, Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP), Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) and law enforcement agencies have taken adequate steps to ensure peaceful celebrations of the festivity.   
 
As per directives of the government, the devotees offered Eid prayers at different Eidgahs and mosques mostly abiding by the health directives amid the pandemic situation.
 
The main Eid-ul Azha congregations were held at the Rangpur Collectorate Eidgah ground with participation of tens of hundreds of Muslims at 8 am in the metropolis.
 
Divisional Commissioner Md. Abdul Wahhab Bhuiyan, Acting Mayor of Rangpur Mahmudur Rahman Titu, Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan, Senior Vice-president of FBCCI Mostafa Azad Chowdhury Babu, officials, political leaders, professionals and civil society members participated in the main congregations.
 
Additional Police Commissioner of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Md. Mehedul Karim participated in the Eid congregation held at RpMP Lines ground while  
 
Superintendent of Police md. Ferdous Ali Chowdhury took part at the congregation held at Rangpur Police Lines ground in the city.     
 
The biggest Eid-ul-Azha congregations were held at the historical Rangpur Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque in the metropolis.   
 
The bigger Eid congregations were held at Munshipara Eidgah, Mulatol Alia Madrasha, Senpara Jam-e-Mosque, Kamarpara Kutubia Jam-e-Mosque, Shalbon Mistripara Jam-e-Mosque, Mandalpara Baro Eidgah, Damodarpur Baro Eidgah, Nasirabad Ekramia Jam-e-Mosque, Ashrafia Jam-e-Mosque, Rangpur Medical College Central Jam-e-Mosque, Kamal Kachhna Jam-e-Mosque, Pakarmatha Jam-e-Mosque, Bahar Kachhna Jam-e-Mosque, Dhap Mohammadpur Jam-e-Mosque, Burirhat Central Eidgah, Central Bus Terminal Jam-e Mosque and other Eidgahs and mosques between 8 am and 9 am.    
 
Outside the city, bigger Eid jamats were held at Sadar and Mithapukur Upazila Parishad Eidgahs, Badarganj Chandamari Central Eidgah, Pirgachha Karbala Eidgah Maidan, Kawnia Central Eidgah, Taraganj Chowpathi Eidgah, Pirganj Central Eidgah and Gangachara Baro Paikan Baro Jam-e-Mosque ground between 9 am and 10 am.
   
Besides, the Muslim devotees participated in the Eid-ul-Azha congregations abiding by the health directives at the mosques in the upazila towns and rural areas.  
 
Divisional Director of the Islamic Foundation Mohammad Abul Kalam said Eid-ul-Azha congregations were held at around 6,000 Eidgahs and masques in the district with due religious fervor and solemnity.  
 
“The Musollis offered special munajats seeking divine blessings for eternal peace of departed souls of their relatives, respite from the Covid-19 pandemic and continued peace and prosperity of the country, its people, Muslim Ummah and whole humanity,” he said.
 
Acting Mayor of Rangpur Mahmudur Rahman Titu said the Muslims are slaughtering sacrificial animals at 117 fixed spots in all 33 wards of the city and clearting of animal wastes would be completed within a maximum of 24 hours.
 
“To remove animal wastes, we have engaged an adequate number of cleaners, trolleys, rickshaw vans and trucks for quicker removal of wastes in light of the experiences of sacrificial animal waste management in previous years,” Titu added.  
 
He especially called upon citizens to assist the RpCC authority in ensuring faster disposal of sacrificial animal wastes in a hygienic way to keep the city clean, eco-friendly and green by averting environmental pollution.
 
Marking celebrations of the Eid-ul-Azha festivity, the national flag has been hoisted atop all government and private buildings and improved diets were served to inmates of the hospitals, orphanages, jail, vagrant centres and Shishu Paribars.
 
Rangpur City Corporation has decorated the main streets with the national flag and various colorful flags and banners bearing inscriptions 'Eid Mubarak' giving pleasant looks to the city.
 
The main streets and major buildings were not illuminated this time in the city to save electricity.
