NARAIL, July 14, 2022 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced seven people to
life-term imprisonment for murdering a man namely Raju Sheikh in Naragati of
the district in 2004.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Md Keramot Ali handed down the verdict
to Bulu Sheikh, Daud Sheikh, Nasim Sheikh, Sekon Sheikh, Shamim Sheikh, Kutti
Sheikh and Dulu Mia. All of them are the residents at Charkandipara village
under Naragati police station.

According to the prosecution, on April 30 in 2004 the convicts hacked Raju
Sheikh to death in Kalabaria Hat area over previous enmity. Following the
murder, Raju's brother filed a case with Naragati Thana accusing eight people
on May 2.

Shamim Sheikh and Dulu Mia are on run while another accused Moslem Sheikh
died before delivering this verdict, said Public Prosecutor advocate Emdadul
Islam.

The court also fined each of the convicts Tk 20,000.
