RANGPUR, July 26 2021 (BSS) – Rangpur division recorded 41.89 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 142 fresh cases were reported after testing 339 newly collected samples at the two Covid-19 laboratories today.
“The Covid-19 positivity rate continues showing a rising trend during the last more than one month in the division,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui told BSS tonight.
Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 27.36 percent on Sunday, 27.38 percent on Saturday, 25.27 percent on Friday, 38.40 percent on Thursday, 23.27 percent on Wednesday and 24.74 percent on Tuesday last in the division.
Among the 142 new patients, 66 were reported positive after diagnosing 151 newly collected samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city at the daily positivity rate of 43.71 percent today.
“The 66 new patients include 37 from Rangpur, 14 from Kurigram, six from Lalmonirhat and nine from Gaibandha districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 7:50 pm.
On the other hand, 76 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 40.43 percent today.
“The 76 new Covid-19 infected patients include 66 from Dinajpur, two from Thakurgaon, five from Nilphamari and three from Panchagarh districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.
Talking to BSS tonight, Acting Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam the number of Covid-19 patients climbed to 40,886 as 142 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.
“The district-wise break up of 40,886 infected patients stands at 8,969 in Rangpur, 2,348 in Panchagarh, 3,228 in Nilphamari, 2,103 in Lalmonirhat, 3,088 in Kurigram, 5,728 in Thakurgaon, 12,054 in Dinajpur and 3,468 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
