RAJSHAHI, Aug 22, 2022 (BSS) – The Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) has arrested six alleged members of an organized robber-gang with looted money, lethal weapons and an ambulance from different areas in the city last night.

The arrested persons are: Ashique Islam, 24, son of Abdur Razzaque, Muhammad Hridoy, 23, son of Azad Ali, Abdur Rahman, 21, son of Aslam Ali, Abdur Rahim, 20, son of Abu Aslam, Richo Islam, 21, son of Lokman Hossain and Yeamin Hossain, 20, son of Ebadul Haque. They are the residents of the city and its adjoining areas.

Police said, acting on tip-off, they conducted raids at different areas of the metropolis and detained them with looted money worth about Taka 16.85 lakhs, some lethal weapons and a blue-coloured ambulance.

Earlier on Sunday morning, the arrested gang members ridding by the ambulance halted some betel leaf traders at Postal Academy area under Shah Makhdum Police Station in the city and looted Taka 34.27 lakhs from them and decamped with the booty.
 
The traders were returning their homes at Daudkandi area under Durgapur Upazila in the district with the money from Dhaka after selling their goods.
 
A case was recorded with Shah Mukhdum Police Station in this connection.
