RANGPUR, Aug 30, 2022 (BSS) - The district unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) today brought out a 1.50-km long mourning procession marking the National Mourning Day-2022 and 47th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Wearing black badges, over 5,500 leaders, workers, activists and supporters of BCL of the district, city, upazila, union and ward units participated in the one and a half kilometer mourning rally followed by a rally and discussion in the city this afternoon.
Beginning from the Zilla School ground, the mourning procession paraded the main streets and went to the Press Club premises before ending at the Public Library ground in the city.
Earlier, District Awami League President Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed inaugurated the morning procession before the rally and discussion.
After the procession, a discussion on Bangabandhu's life and works was held at a huge rally on the Public Library ground.
Rangpur District Awami League General Secretary Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju addressed the discussion as the chief guest.
Rangpur District Chhatra League President SM Sabbir Ahmed presided over the event while its General Secretary AKM Tanim Ahsan Chapal moderated the entire programme.
Addressing the discussion, speakers said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, worthy daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, is working tirelessly to materialize his dream of building a developed Sonar Bangla through building a developed Bangladesh by 2041.
Advocate Rezaul Karim called upon leaders and workers of Awami and it's all associate to remain prepared in the future to counter all sorts of conspiracies and turn grief into strength to counter anti-national conspiracies.
