GOPALGANJ, Sept 4, 2022 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced two persons to
death for murdering a ride-sharing motorcyclist Ali Akbar in the district in
2008.
The court also fined them Taka one lakh each.
District Additional and Session Judge Md Abbas Uddin handed down the verdict
to Sumon Mollah, 35, and Nuru Farazi, 34, residents of Rajoir upazila in
Madaripur district.
According to the prosecution story, in brief, convicts Sumon Mollah and Nuru
Farazi hired Ali Akbar's motorcycle from Kotalipara upazila on May 22 in 2008
to go to Madaripur district.
The next day on May 23, police recovered his body from Habib Nagar area under
Sadar upazila.
Ali Akbar's brother filed a murder case on the day with Gopalganj Sadar
Thana.
Later, police pressed the charge-sheet on January 14 in 2009 accusing Sumon
Mollah and Nuru Farazi.
Testifying witnesses and evidences, the court gave the order today in
presence of the convicts.
APP Advocate Mohammad Shahiduzzaman Khan stood in favor of the government.
