KUSHTIA, Sept 13, 2022 (BSS) - A woman and her mother-in-law died after being bitten by a poisonous snake in Khoksa Upazila of the district last night.

The deceased were identified as Kamrunnahar, 28, and her mother-in-law Joynab Begum, 50. They were the residents in Joyontihazra Union of the upazila.

Local people said a poisonous snake bit Kamrunnahar at around 2 am last night at her room. Joynab Begum was bitten by the snake as she entered into Kamrunnahar's room to save her.

Kamrunnahar and her mother-in-law were admitted to Khoksa Upazila Health Complex and referred to Kushtia General Hospital later. Kamrunnahar died on way to the hospital while Joynab Begum died under treatment at Kushtia General Hospital.

Officer-in-Charge of Khoksa Thana Syed Ashikuzzaman confirmed.
