CHATTOGRAM, Sept 19, 2022 (BSS) - A Chattogram court today granted bail to two Sub-Inspectors (SIs) of city's Patenga thana in connection with a case filed by Judge Ferdous Ara of Woman and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal here.
Anwar Hossain and Subir Pal surrendered before the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Deb and sought bail through their lawyers. The court granted their bail after hearing both the sides.
Earlier, the judge filed a case on September 13, against the two SIs with city's Patenga thana on charges of filing a false case, giving false reports and evidences.
The court earlier issued arrest of warrants against them.
According to the court sources, Patenga thana police arrested a minor boy Nazmul Hasan Jewel from Butterfly Park, beside the Shah Amanat International Airport on April 21, 2019, for his alleged involvement in smuggling of two gold bars by evading customs duty. SI Subir Pal of Patenga thana police, as Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, submitted a charge-sheet before the court on October 3 of the same year accusing the child. The court on September 4 acquitted Nazmul from the charge as it found the minor boy was innocent.
