RAJSHAHI, Oct 22, 2022 (BSS) - Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has launched a mosquito elimination drive to protect its people from dengue infection.
Panel Mayor Shariful Islam launched the drive at Pathanpara area today saying the number of dengue cases is gradually raising for the last couple of weeks. So, the city corporation has taken need-based measures to eradicate mosquitoes.
He said the works of the conservancy besides cleaning the places which are prone to water stagnant and removal of wastages from drains will be expedited under the drive.
Panel Mayor Islam urged all the government, autonomous, semi-government and educational institutions and households to keep their respective catchment areas clean.
Meanwhile, the RCC is going to implement a project of checking mosquitoes along with eliminating the diseases caused by mosquitoes.
In the initial stage, a two-year project will be implemented in some wards on pilot basis followed by a five-year project with financial and technical support of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
Panel Mayor Shariful Islam said they will implement the project with the main thrust of protecting the city dwellers from mosquito bite along with its diseases.
