HABIGANJ, Oct 22, 2022 (BSS) - National Road Safety Day-2022 was observed in the district today as elsewhere across the country.

This year's theme of the day is 'Ain Meney Sorokey Choli, Nirapodey Ghorey Phiri (Let us follow the law on the road and return home safely".

Marking the Day, a colorful rally was brought out from Deputy Commissioner's office which paraded the important streets and ended at Zila Shilpakala Academy hall room this morning.

After the rally, a discussion meeting was held on the occasion at the Zila Shilpakala Academy hall room this morning.

Advocate Md. Abu Zahir, Member of Parliament of Habiganj-3 Constituency and District Awami League President addressed the function as the chief guest with Additional District Magistrate Md. Sadiqur Rahman in the chair this morning.

The chief guest said if the drivers drive their vehicles carefully the existing number of road accidents could be reduced to a great extent. He urged everyone to obey the traffic rules and laws.

Zila Parishad Chief Executive Officer Md. Nurul Islam, Acting Superintendent of Police Shailen Chakma, District Awami League General Secretary Advocate Alamgir Chowdhury, former Principal of Government Brindaban College Prof. Ikramul Wadud Chowdhury, among others, spoke on the occasion.

Government officials, leaders of road transport workers and representatives of transport owners associations, among others, were present at the meeting.
