8 get life term jail in separate murder cases in Laxmipur

 LAXMIPUR, Nov 8, 2022 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced eight persons to life term imprisonment in two separate murder cases in the district.

 Laxmipur District and Sessions Judge Court Judge Mohammad Rahibul Islam pronounced the verdict this morning separately.

The court also fined them Taka 10,000 each, in default, they will have to suffer more one year imprisonment in jail.

 Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Jasim Uddin said that six accused have been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Jubo League leader Abdul Hannan Sumon and the court acquitted two people in this case.

The convicted accused are - Kaushar, Khorshe Alam, Sohail Rana, Sohag, Rabbi and Kala Shahadat. They are residents of Dattapara, Gopalpur and Dakshin Maguri villages of Sadar Upazila. Babul alias Bablu and Manik Elahi Babul were acquitted in this case. They are residents of Dattapara village. The victim Suman was an active worker of North Jaipur Union Jubo League in Sadar Upazila unit.

According to court sources, on December 6 in 2013, Suman was going home in a rickshaw with his son Saif Hannan. On the way, the accused stopped his speed and the accused got him down from the rickshaw and cut him and with bloody injuries.

Later, the locals rescued him and took him to Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared Suman dead.

Sufia Begum, the victim's mother, filed a case with the Sadar Model Police Station as the plaintiff on December 8, 2013.

On August 23, 2016, the investigating officer filed a charge sheet against 8 accused.

After examining the record and witnesses, the court found six persons guilty.

In another case, two people have been sentenced to life in the Hanif murder case and six people were acquitted.

Didar Hossain and Farooq Hossain were convicted in the Hanif murder case. They are residents of Maguri village in North Jaipur Union of Sadar. Ilyas Kobra was under sentence but was exonerated as he died. The acquitted are Md. Ripon, Md. Roni, Omar Farooq, Ismail Hossain Munsi, Md. Bablu and Md. Riyadh. Another accused Jasim Uddin, died in a gunfight with terrorists on June 8, 2015. He was also acquitted from the case.

According to Hanif murder case sources, the accused shot and killed on the evening of April 7, 2015.

On May 15, 2015, Hanif's sister Monowara Begum filed a murder case with Chandraganj Police Station as the plaintiff.

On March 27, 2016, investigating officer and SI Jahangir Alam of Chandraganj police station filed the charge sheet in the court.

After examining the record and witnesses, the court found two persons guilty.

The convicts convicted in two cases are absconding.
