KHULNA, Nov 9, 2022 (BSS) - A team of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Jhenidah Camp under RAB-6 in a drive has rescued seven victims including children and women from Jhikorgacha Upazila in Jashore last night who were assembled there for trafficking to India.

The RAB members also arrested two members of a trafficking syndicate from the area.

Acting on a secret information, the RAB team conducted the operation at Kalagachhi area under Jhikorgachha upazila in Jashore district around 10.00pm last night and arrested the two human traffickers.

The arrested persons are- Md Sabuz Hossain, 29, and his accomplice Md Zahirul Islam, 40, both the residents of Jhikorgachha upazila, Commanding Officer (CO) of RAB-6 Lt Col Mostak Ahmed confirmed to BSS.

Sohag Samadder Shaon, one of the rescued victims, filed a case with Jhikorgachha Police Station in this connection.

Quoting the First Information Report (FIR), the RAB media cell in a press release said, the victims were confined at Kolagachia area under Jhikorgachha upazila few days back in a bid to traffic them to India alluring to get good job or works for better livelihood by taking huge money.

The arrested traffickers confessed to the RAB that they often traffic jobless youths and women to India taking advantage of their poverty, RAB media cell said adding that the arrested duo handed over to Jhikorgachha Police Station.
