CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Nov 13, 2022 (BSS) - Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in separate drives recovered 11,200 packets of leaf bidis, 72 kgs leaves of bidi, 43 kgs of tobacco and 51 kg of tortoise bones in Shibganj and Bholahat upazilas of the district today.

On a tip-off, a BGB patrol team from Chowka Border Out Post (BOP) conducted a raid in Parchowka field area of Shibganj upazila at around 12.40 am and recovered 11,200 packets of leaf bidis, 72 kgs leaves of bidi and 43 kgs of tobacco in an abandoned condition, BGB sources said.

Another BGB team from Bholahat BOP conducted a raid in Futanibazar frontier area of Bholahat upazila at around 5.15 am and recovered 51 kgs of tortoise bones, the BGB sources added.

Sensing the presence of BGB the smugglers fled away.
