Huge drugs recovered, 31 cases filed in October in Khulna

KHULNA, Nov 13, 2022 (BSS) - The Department of Narcotics Control(DNC) have recovered huge drugs including 3,127 pieces of Yaba tablets, 17 kilograms (KGs)  of ganja, 54 bottles of phensidyle syrup and 184 liters of brewed wine during the month of October last.

In 22 drives by the Anti-Drug Taskforce have filed 31cases against172 people with different police stations in this connection, deputy director of the DNC Khulna Md Mizanur Rahman disclosed it while speaking at the monthly law and order meeting today at the conference room of the deputy commissioner (DC).

Deputy Civil Surgeon of Khulna Dr Sheikh Md Kamal Hossain told the meeting that the Department of Health has given a total of 55,10,859 doses of Covid-19 inoculation until in October, 2022. Of the vaccine, first doses of inoculation are 23, 45,542, 2nd doses inoculation are 20, 10,246 and buster doses are 11, 55,07.

“In an average, five dengue patients has been admitted everyday in dengue units of all public hospitals including Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) and at least four were returned to their homes after getting treatment,” he said adding that there have any incident of causality during last month.

District Fisheries Officer Joydeb Paul said, a total of 18 lakh meters illegal fishing nets were destroyed and five fishermen were awarded different imprisonment in 56 mobile court operations during the ban on Hilsha fishing.

In 185 drives, the mobile courts also destroyed 290 kgs of chemical mixed shrimp and realized Taka 86,000 as fine from the accused.

Chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Pulak Kumar Mondal, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police Md Abdur Rahman, Additional Superintendent of Police Tanveer Ahmed, Upazila chairmen, UNOs, Freedom Fighters and leaders of professional bodies, among others, spoke.

Local administration will remain alert always against crimes and all kinds of social curses, Pulak Kumar Mondal said prices of essential commodities are now under control side by side crimes are decreasing.

In October, a total of 160 cases were filed in all nine Police Stations in the district, 38 cases less from September while 133 cases were filed in all eight Police Stations in the city, 15 cases less from September, he added.
